This great city of London is alive with sound 24/7. The Police sirens follow those of the ambulances. There is the constant whine of car and lorry engines and tyres . Over head every two minutes a jet wings its noisy way to Heathrow. In the High Street there is the buzz of conversation and the yelling out of teenagers. Radio and TV stations vie to have their sounds tuned into.
The majority of people are wearing ear plugs which are receiving music and hearing conversation. Into this cacophony of noise the still small voice of God whispers ' Be still and know that I am God'. Our greatest need today is to escape to a place where we can block out the sound. It is in this stillness that we shall rediscover God who is always present.
